Almost revelatory in parts! I had not consciously considered the difference between tidying and organising before! Love the takeaway summaries from each chapter. I don't have a tidy or organised home yet, but that's my bad, not the book's. I will recap the first few chapters after I put the book down a couple of weeks ago and I'm confident it will help me practically as well as in my mindset. 🙂

People with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may well find it a challenge to keep their homes clean and tidy - given that sometimes it seems an onerous tasks for those of us without ADHD. Luckily this book provides a deal of practical advice and tips that are sure to make the task easier. And there can be little doubt that the author knows what he is talking about, from personal experience - he had ADHD as a child - but did not realise it for 20 years. The book is organised into 3 parts - part 1 gives some background and context, and explains what the book is all about. Part 2 addresses organising room by room and part 3 cleaning room by room. There is also an up-beat conclusion and reference section. If you have ADHD (or even if you don't) and want to organise/clean your house, there is so much relevant material here that I have no doubt that you will find the book useful.

This book has been an absolute game-changer for me. The book doesn’t just offer generic advice, it truly gets into the specifics of how our ADHD minds work and why traditional methods often don’t work so well. The concept of DOOM piling worked well for me and the author’s approach to making the organization feel natural and easy has been an eye-opener. This book isn’t just about short-term fixes, it’s about building habits and routines that work for the long term. The practical strategies and tips for maintaining a clean and organized home have been a lifesaver even when life gets hectic. I would highly recommend this book and embark on this journey towards and organized and peaceful home.

I have read several book on ADHD prior before now and I must confess that none was as in-depth as this one. The book was well researched and very articulate on the topic under scrutiny. As someone suffering ADHD, I will highly recommend this book to others with same fate as well to read and thank me later for doing so. Thumbs up to the author.

The ADHD Organization and Cleaning is a practical and compassionate guide for individuals with ADHD who struggle with organization and maintaining a clean living space. The book provides actionable strategies that are simple, realistic, and tailored to the unique challenges of ADHD, such as distractions and difficulty with follow-through. The author breaks down cleaning and organizing tasks into manageable steps, using a mix of empathy and personal advice to offer solutions that feel doable rather than overwhelming. Tips like setting up cleaning routines, using visual reminders, and tackling one small area at a time make the process less daunting and more sustainable. What stands out is the book’s focus on self-compassion and understanding ADHD, encouraging readers to embrace progress over perfection. It's not just a manual for tidying up; it's a reminder that managing ADHD in everyday tasks is about finding strategies that work for you, and that it’s okay to take small steps. Overall, The ADHD Organization and Cleaning is a refreshing, accessible resource for anyone looking to create a more organized, less stressful living environment, while respecting the unique way their brain works.

The author spells out what we've been actively avoiding or ignoring all together. This book is definitely helpful to those who need a dose of reality and an explanation to why/how/what to do to improve for the future.

This book is wonderful for people who need help w the method of cleaning and organizing w ADHD/autism. It is a great thing if you have little to no foundation. It's in 3 parts: 1. How to understand ADHD brain v neurotypical brain 2. Step by step guide, room by room, piece by piece 3. Cleaning cleaning: how best to mop, scrub, vacuum, clean surfaces It's entry level study. If you have a kid w ADHD and you want to understand them, DEFINITELY get this book and help them build routines early. However, if you do already know and understand processes of how to pare down tasks and what works for you and exactly how to get YOURSELF to DO things.... It's not what you're looking for. I am looking for something that goes further into discipline. Into executive dysfunction management for people who have the method down. How do I STOP making steps? How do I START going? How do I deal w the anxiety the ADHD causes? If I've taken a task down to the anatomical level of how to do it, what do I do then? What do I do to make myself go? I want a more in depth study. This book isn't that. It's not a simple fix either, if that's what you're looking for. This is start from 0 context and BUILD. It has very good tips on motivation and rewards and how to make ur ADHD brain go brrrr, but it's not medication or therapy.
